Young Rider's Horse Academy Lesson Program- Riders ages 6-18
Why Should my child join the Young Rider's Horse Academy Program?
A program that focuses on well-rounded riders-
We have a firm belief that a good solid foundation of the basics plus the added versatility of cross training is essential to becoming a good rider. Because of these beliefs, our students are taught using principles from several aspects of riding dicsplines. Students receive training in the sports of Dressage, Hunter/Jumper, and Centered Riding. A lot of our riding curriculum includes instruction that follows many 4-H and Pony Club philosophies and learning strategies. Natural Horsemanship techniques are also emphasized in all horse handling techniques to teach children how to communicate with horses with respect and leadership. This makes for a well balanced horse and rider who can then go on to specialise in their chosen discipline.
Choose how much you get involved-
Our barn is friendly and we want to share our farm with you. Your child will feel like they are a special part of our ponies lives- because they are! Monthly lesson students come once a week for a ridng lessons. For students who want more riding time, we have several options to be able to enjoy the horses more often than once a week. We often have "Pony Socials" on Saturdays where kids can come over outside form lesson time to visit the horses and other barn friends. We also have horse leasing programs available and practice ride times for those who are able to ride without instruction. For those who get really hooked on horses, we offer boarding for our students who own their own horses.
Be Prepared! Many children (and adults!) dream of having a horse of their own. It is not until they get home with their new horse that they realize that there is a lot more care involved than just riding. That is why at our barn, we specialize in teaching about the WHOLE horse, not just how to sit on a saddle. At our Barn, in addition to teaching all of the traditional aspects of horseback riding lessons, we also instruct our students in other areas of horse handling and care. If our students decide to purchase a horse of their own, they are well prepared for all of the aspects of horse ownership, and we are there to help along the way.
No worries for parents! Being very family oriented, we understand concerns that come from parents. We teach from age 3 and up using appropriate size mounts for every rider. (Most children ages 3-6 join the Pony Tales at our farm.) Our riding lesson programs stress safety above all else. We have quality instructors that are realistic in evaluating the level and maturity of students, therefore not pushing them into something they are not yet ready for, but always encouraging their best efforts.
