What
kind of horses will I meet at YRHA?
Meet Our Miniature
Horses
Miniature Horses are a great breed of
horse. They are classified into two sections. A minis and B minis.
The A minis are 34" and under and the B minis are 34" to 38".
We stumbled upon the Miniatures after many years of own "big" horses.
Boy do we love them! Not only are they a lot of fun and very huggable,
they are also fun to perform with. They pull carts, jump fences,
do trail and obstacle classes at shows, and our little riders can feel
comfortable on a horse their own size! We use them in our lesson program
to teach the basics of horse handling, safety, and beginner driving.
They are so much less intimidating for people new to horses- both adults and
children alike and really just an asset to anyone's barn! Click on the the
Miniature Horse below to meet our minis or you can click on the Haflinger and
the Welsh to visit our other horses!

Meet Our Welsh
Ponies
Welsh ponies have been known as the
perfect child's pony for hundreds of years. They are great
size, ranging from 11 to 14 hands. With their beautiful dish
faces and dainty trot they excel in the show ring. We have owned
several Welsh ponies throughout the years and knowing their
personalities and their beautiful looks we decided to incorporate them into our
program.
Meet
Our Haflingers
 |
Haflingers have in the United
States since the 1950's so they are still fairly new to the States.
They are a draft pony in a sense; short enough for the children to
ride them, strong enough for adults to ride. They are
known for their always sorrel color, beautiful faces, and huggable
personalities. We use them in our program to offer
variety and give our taller students and our adults an opportunity to ride,
too. We chose the Haflinger because of their calm
disposition and natural talent for both riding and driving. Be
sure to click on the link below to Meet our Haflingers.
